Sustainable Mountain View

The City of Mountain View is updating its General Plan—the City’s blueprint for growth over the long term. The process will include an update of the Housing Element, an important part of any city’s general plan. This is a critical time for Mountain View to lay out a sustainable plan for future growth.

A group of residents formed the Mountain View Coalition for Sustainable Planning to promote sustainable local decision making by writing letters to and meeting with officials, working with planning staff and attending and commenting at public city meetings.

The goal is to create a community where residents can get all of their needs met within the borders of Mountain View. Ideally, every neighborhood in Mountain View would have jobs, homes, shopping, public transportation and open space within walking and biking distance.
