Greenbelt Alliance Endorsed: Affordable Homes in Mountain View

We’re pleased to report that on March 1 the Mountain View City Council took our advice and approved the Evelyn Family Apartments, a cutting-edge proposal for 116 new affordable homes.

Conceived of by ROEM Development, these new apartments will be the largest contribution of new affordable homes in the City of Mountain View in many years, helping to address the area’s pressing housing affordability crisis.

It’s a great addition to the community. In particular, the proposal calls for making the neighborhood a safer place for walking and biking. An on-site bike share program and a bike repair station will be available to residents. The developer also plans to work with the cities of Mountain View and Sunnyvale to create additional bike lanes and improve road conditions for walking and biking along Evelyn Avenue and Bernardo Avenue.

Other transportation choices offered at Evelyn Family Apartments include:

  • An on-site car share vehicle
  • VTA Eco Passes for all residents
  • A shuttle to local schools and transit stations

The project will also provide 4,000 square feet of community space, including a homework room, clubroom, and a fitness room. If residents feel like going for a stroll, the family-friendly Sylvan Park is located less than a mile away.

ROEM also plans to achieve a LEED Gold Certification for the project. This commitment will improve the building’s environmental performance and create a healthier living environment for residents.

This is the type of smart development we like to see!
