Mount Diablo In Bloom
Kick off the spring wildflower season with a hike through a Bay Area botanical hotspot.
We’ll climb Twin Peaks in Mount Diablo State Park to view the riot of spring colors offered up by our April bloomers, including some rare floral gems found only on Mount Diablo. Lunch will be atop Twin Peaks, with a beautiful view of Diablo’s canyons to the south and the rolling hills of the closed Concord Naval Weapons Station to the north, where Greenbelt Alliance is working to help promote smart growth and a new regional park.

We will assemble at the Mitchell Canyon Visitor Center. Restrooms and water are available at the trailhead.
Bring lunch, water, dress in layers, and wear good hiking shoes. Bring hiking poles if you normally use them. A few sections of trail are narrow, rocky, and exposed. If you have questions about this outing, email Ken Lavin or call him at (415) 543-6771 x321.
