Greenbelt Alliance is seeking qualified and motivated individuals with backgrounds in planning and/or environmental review for a rewarding volunteer opportunity as a Livable Communities Logistics Team volunteer.

About Us
Greenbelt Alliance is the Bay Area's leading land conservation and urban planning nonprofit. Our mission is to make the nine-county San Francisco Bay Area a better place to live by protecting the region's greenbelt and improving the livability of its cities and towns. Since 1958, we have been active across the nine-county region protecting open space, opposing sprawl, and promoting smart growth. We have helped save over 1.1 million acres of greenbelt and we're a leader in promoting regional solutions to the problems of sprawl.

Responsibilities
The Livable Communities Logistics Team volunteer helps determines Livable Communities Outreach tactics around transit-oriented development in targeted Bay Area cities. The volunteer helps handle logistics and crowd building for outings and other outreach events. The team volunteer helps lead and facilitate urban outings, town hall forums, and other outreach events. The team volunteer participates in other outreach activities such as phone banking and tabling to engage citizens in the local planning process.

Commitment
This volunteer position requires a monthly commitment of 5-10 hours. The volunteer has the option of working on specific sites only or continuing to volunteer on other priority sites around the Bay Area.

Talents/Skills Desired
Volunteer qualifications and background sought:
1. Reliable and able to communicate with team members as events come together.
2. Must have either access to a car or willingness to carpool with others when necessary.
3. Knowledge of smart growth/livable communities principles and issues helpful but not required. You will learn through doing!
4. Outreach and event planning experience helpful.
5. Willingness to convey smart growth ideas to crowds with varying knowledge of them.

Volunteers affect change and see results in various transit hotspots around the region. Volunteers hone leadership and presentation skills.
