Outreach Coordination Internships

Greenbelt Alliance is seeking highly motivated individuals with backgrounds in public policy, outreach strategies, public relations, grassroots organizing or management for a rewarding internship through our Field Department.

About Greenbelt Alliance
Greenbelt Alliance is the Bay Area's land conservation and urban planning nonprofit. Our mission is to make the nine-county San Francisco Bay Area a better place to live by protecting the region's greenbelt and improving its cities and towns. Since 1958, Greenbelt Alliance has helped to permanently protect over 1 million acres of the Bay Area’s natural areas and working farms. Our field offices are located in Walnut Creek, Fairfield, Santa Rosa and San Jose; each office focuses on local land-use and public policy issues. One intern will be placed in each field office.

Responsibilities
The Outreach Coordination Intern will work with a Field Representative to formulate and implement outreach efforts for Greenbelt Alliance’s open space protection and livable communities campaigns. Intern tasks include:
• Coalition Building: help build and maintain coalitions through outreach to community groups such as unions, churches, and schools.
• Volunteer outreach: work with our allies to recruit and coordinate volunteer outreach and activism such as phone banks, tabling, and public hearings.
• Policy analysis: conduct research on and help write comments for environmental impact reports and other necessary documents to improve or stop development proposals.
• Media and event coordination: monitor and organize print and broadcast media featuring relevant topics, and conduct media and educational events to help build volunteer base and increase presence.
• Training is provided.
