A local cable TV reporter looks on as Go
Greenbelt! riders smile and the press conference about a proposed
development on lands north of Livermore begins. |
 |
A local Sierra Club volunteer talks to the
riders, as a radio reporter records his words to the trills of a nearby
songbird who chimes in. |
 |
David Reid, Greenbelt Alliance's East Bay
Field Representative, talks to the riders about the land and the proposed
development that threatens it. This area is home to many rare animals
and especially rare plants, and is currently protected by an urban
growth boundary. However, Pardee Homes has already spent over $800,000
on an initiative to move the boundary outward and allow the developer
to build on this land. The initiative will be on Livermore's November
ballot. |

The landscape that surrounds the press conference
is breathtaking, and finally, the weather's perfect! |
