Greenbelt Outings
What
is the greenbelt?
We're fortunate in the Bay Area to have a regional greenbelt a
broad band of open lands surrounding the cities and towns of the nine
counties ringing the San Francisco Bay.
What is a Greenbelt Outing?
Designed to introduce Bay Area residents to the beauty and diversity
of our natural landscape, greenbelt outings are hikes, bike rides,
farm
tours and other special events that offer a fun and educational experience
for everyone. Every greenbelt outing offers Bay Area residents a unique
adventure. Outings are led by Greenbelt Alliance volunteers, sometimes
accompanied by a local naturalist, farmer, or activist to provide
commentary
on the natural surroundings that are being visited. Outings take place
year-round and happen in each of the nine Bay Area counties.
How can I get involved?
Check our outings
calendar if you are interested on going on a greenbelt outing. Additionally,
as a local naturalist, historian, activist, author, photographer, or interested
local resident, you can help protect the Bay Area's open space by sharing
your skills and knowledge with others writing about, guiding, or documenting
an outing. If you are interested in leading a Greenbelt Outing, contact us.
