Rating: A moderately strenuous 8-mile hike with about 1500 feet of elevation gain.
Group: Open to all. Reservations are not required. Co-sponsored with the Sierra Club.

Notes: Take a moderately paced day hike through the Eucalyptus and oak of Anthony Chabot Regional Park. Highlights include Lake Chabot, Chabot View, and the Cascade Trail. Be prepared for mud and lots of poison oak.

What to bring: Layered clothing, sun protection, sturdy hiking boots, lunch, snacks, plenty of water.
How to get there: Meet: 10:30 am at Marciel Gate, Anthony Chabot Regional Park. Directions: From South, take Hwy 580 to the Redwood Rd exit in Castro Valley and go left several miles past the golf course to the Marciel Gate. From North take Hwy 13 to Redwood Rd exit and go left to Redwood Rd / go south on Redwood Rd to Marciel Gate. Carpool: Leader at Walnut Creek BART 9:15 am; No-host carpool at Rockridge BART 9:45 am.
