Rating: This is a challenging, 7-mile hike, with over 1000 feet of elevation gain. There are some steep and slippery sections.

Notes: Join us on a challenging hike through redwood forests and rugged hills to the spectacular three-tiered falls of Devil’s Well on the Napa Land Trust’s Archer Taylor Preserve. Optional post-hike wine tasting at a local winery.

Rain Policy: Hike is cancelled in the event of rain.

What to bring: Rugged walking shoes, lunch, snacks, and liquids. Dress in layers. Bring a change of socks and shoes if you wish to participate in viewing the art collection or wine tasting after the hike.

How to get there: From San Francisco or Marin, take Highway 101 to 37 East toward Napa/Vallejo; Continue straight (0.2 mi); Continue straight onto CA-37E (7.1 mi); Turn left at Arnold Dr/CA-121S (56 ft); Take the 1st right to stay on Arnold Dr/CA-121S (6.5 mi); Slight right at CA-121 N/Fremont Dr (signs for State Route 121/Sonoma/Napa); Continue to follow CA-121 N (7.2 mi); Turn left at Old Sonoma Rd (1.3 mi); Turn left at Buhman Ave (0.3 mi); Turn right to stay on Buhman Ave (1.0 mi); Turn left to stay on Buhman Ave (1.4 mi); Turn left at Browns Valley Rd (0.7 mi); Turn left at Redwood Rd (3.8 mi). Park in the Hess Winery parking lot 4411 Redwood Road. We will car pool from there. After the hike a visit to the winery is an option.

From the East Bay, take 680 across the Benicia-Martinez bridge; take exit 58A on the left to merge onto I-780 W toward Benicia/Vallejo (6.7 mi); take exit 1B toward Sacramento(0.3 mi); Merge onto I-80 E (2.7 mi); Take exit 33 to merge onto CA-37 W toward Napa (2.2 mi); Take exit 19 for CA-29/Sonoma Blvd toward Napa (0.3 mi); Turn right at CA-29 N/Sonoma Blvd Continue to follow CA-29 N (13.7 mi); Take exit 19 for Trancas St toward Redwood Rd (0.3 mi); Turn left at Redwood Rd/Trancas St Continue to follow Redwood Rd (5.8 mi) to The Hess Winery, 4411 Redwood Road. We will car pool from there. After the hike a visit to the winery is an option.
