Rating: This is a moderate hike of 4 miles with about 500 feet in elevation gain.

Notes: Join us on a nature hike through this beautiful open space acquired by the Muir Heritage Land Trust hills and just recently opened to the public. No restrooms or water at the trailhead.
Rain Policy: Cancelled in the event of rain.
What to bring: Hiking shoes, snacks, liquids, Dress in layers.
How to get there:
From Martinez area (east of Fernandez)
Take Highway 4, westbound towards Hercules/Richmond
Take Franklin Canyon exit
Turn left at stop sign
Turn left again at stop sign, to get back on Highway 4 eastbound
Pass Franklin Canyon golf course, on your right
Look out for yellow “Narrow Subway” sign on right
Take quick right turn after sign onto narrow Christie Road (this is after the
golf
course, before the train overpass)
Drive down Christie about one mile (pass PG&E plant on your right)
The Fernandez gate is on the right hand side.
From Hercules area (west of Fernandez)
Take Highway 4, eastbound towards Martinez/Stockton
Pass Franklin Canyon golf course, on your right
Look out for yellow “Narrow Subway” sign on right
Take quick right turn after sign onto narrow Christie Road (this is after the
golf
course, before the train overpass)
Drive down Christie about one mile (pass PG&E plant on your right)
The Fernandez gate is on the right hand side, drive through the gate.
