Rating: This is a moderate hike of 4 miles with a couple hundred feet in elevation gain.
Group: Open to all. Reservations required.

Notes: Join us on a nature walk along shady Mitchell Creek to see what blooms, flies, swims, burrows, and crawls on Mount Diablo in late summer.

How to get there:
We will meet at the Mitchell Canyon Visitor Center in Mount Diablo
State Park at 9 a.m.
Directions:
From San Francisco or Oakland, take Highway 24 East to the junction with Highway
680 North in Walnut Creek. (From San Jose, take 680 North to Walnut Creek.)
Merge onto Highway 680 North and take the Ygnacio Valley exit. Turn right and
drive on Ygnacio Valley Road for about 8 miles. Turn right onto Clayton Road.
Drive one mile and turn right onto Mitchell Canyon Road. Drive a couple of miles
to the end of the road to reach the Park entrance and meeting location.
From the North, take Highway 680 South and exit at Treat Blvd. Turn left on Treat
and drive about 4 1⁄2 miles to Cowell Road. Turn right onto Cowell Road
and drive to Ygnacio Valley Road. Turn left and follow Ygnacio Valley Road to
Clayton Road. Turn right and follow Clayton Road to Mitchell Canyon Road. Turn
right and drive to the end of Mitchell Canyon Road into the park.
