Rating: This is a challenging hike of 6 miles on some rugged trails with 1,300 feet in elevation gain.

Notes: Enjoy early season wildflowers and late season waterfalls on this trek up Mount Diablo’s rugged north side. From our lofty mountain perch, we’ll see the Concord Naval Weapons Station and the Pittsburg hills, areas Greenbelt Alliance is striving to protect from sprawl development.

Rain Policy: Hike is cancelled in case of rain.

What to bring: : Water, lunch, good hiking shoes, and dress in layers.

How to get there:
We will meet at 9 AM at the end of Regency Drive in Clayton.

From the west, including Berkeley, Oakland, and SF, follow Route 24 through the Caldecott Tunnel toward Walnut Creek. Take 680 north and exit immediately onto Ygnacio Valley Road. Turn right on Ygnacio Valley Road and follow it east about 7 1⁄2 miles to Clayton Road. Turn right and drive three miles to the intersection of Regency Drive. Turn right, drive to the end of Regency Drive and park.

From north of Walnut Creek (Pleasant Hill, Concord, or Highway 4), follow 680
South, exit Treat Blvd. and follow Treat Blvd. east to Cowell Road. Turn right on Cowell. Drive to Ygnacio Valley Road and turn left. Drive to Clayton Road and turn right. Drive three miles to the intersection of Regency Drive. Turn right and, drive to the end of Regency Drive and park.

From the south (Tri-Valley area), take Interstate 680 North. Exit at Ygnacio Valley Road in Walnut Creek. Turn right on Ygnacio Valley Road and follow it east about 7 1⁄2 miles to Clayton Road. Turn right and drive three miles to the intersection of Regency Drive. Turn right, drive to the end of Regency Drive and park.
