Spectacular Sycamore Grove

Rating: A moderate, 7-mile hike with less than 1000 feet of elevation gain.

Group: Open to all. Co-Sponsored by the Sierra Club.

Status: Spaces Available; No reservations needed.

Fees: $3 parking fee at Sycamore Grove.

Notes: Sycamore Grove Park in Livermore contains one of the largest remaining groves of native sycamores in California. Come walk through the grove with us, learn about how they have been impacted by changes in the area and what we can do to preserve them. Optional post-hike wine-tasting at local winery.

Rain Policy: Event is held rain or shine. Rain shortens or alters.

What to bring:. Layered clothing, sun protection, sturdy hiking boots, lunch, snacks, plenty of water.

How to get there:
From Highway 580, take the Airway Boulevard exit, go south past the airport, and turn right at Kittyhawk. Take Kittyhawk to Concannon Boulevard, turn left, go about 1 mile to Holmes, and turn right on Holmes. Go to Wetmore, turn left; park entrance will be on your right. Meet at 10:40 am at Wetmore Road entrance. Return to cars approximately 3:40.

Carpool: Meet leader Bob Solotar at Rockridge BART by base of steps on east side of College Avenue, 9:40 am.
