Vision Internship
San Francisco
Now accepting
applications for internships beginning August 15.
The San Francisco Bay Area is a great place to live, with spectacular landscapes
surrounding attractive cities and towns. In the next few years, major decisions
will be made about which of these landscapes get protected, and which do
not. The Green Vision Intern will help create a vision for open space around
the region in the Bay Area -- everything from wildlife preserves to working
farmlands, and eventually to urban parks. Activities will include compiling
and keeping a record of Bay Area open space maps, organizing county-by-county
meetings with groups working to protect natural resources, and analyzing
the information and maps that have been gathered. Currently we are creating
a map showing what lands are protected by city and county policies so we
can focus our efforts on those that are most threatened. The Green Vision
Intern will work with the Policy Research Director and the Green Vision Task
Force to create a vision for open space in the Bay Area. The Green Vision
Intern will gather open space maps by contacting regional agencies, keep
a record of open space maps and information available, make revisions to
a draft open space map compiled from sub maps around the Bay Area, organize
county-by-county meetings, and provide general assistance to Green Vision
Task Force mapping efforts.(If you wish to also apply for the Infill Task Force Internship
you need apply only once.)[more

Infill
Task Force Internship
San Francisco
Now accepting applications for internships beginning August 15.
The Bay Area will add a million new residents by 2020. Where will these
people live and work? Where will these homes and workplaces be built?
What will this growth mean for the Bay Area’s quality of life?
Greenbelt Alliance is working to channel this growth toward existing
cities and towns, in a way that revitalizes existing downtowns and
makes existing neighborhoods better places to live. The Infill Task
Force intern
will support this effort by helping the Research and Field Departments
field test a model showing where infill may occur. He or she will
help coordinate case studies of a few cities to see whether the reality
matches our model's predictions. We will then use the model to determine
where
policy changes are most needed to ensure that growth happens in cities,
rather than by paving over farmlands and natural areas.

you wish to also apply for the Green
Vision Internship, you need apply only once.) [more
