Napa's Measure P — Renew Measure J
Measure P will protect Napa County’s scenic mountains and vineyards, and will preserve Napa’s vital agricultural industry and small-town lifestyle.
Out-of-control growth is a constant threat to Napa’s working farms and natural areas. We must act now to protect agriculture land, watersheds, and open space.
- Napa’s agricultural land is the backbone of its world-renowned wine industry.
- Preserving watersheds keeps our water clean and protects our water supply.
- Napa County is defined by the farmland and open spaces that create this unique and beloved region.
Measure P will renew Measure J, Napa County’s landmark agricultural preservation policy, for 50 years and will protect Napa’s quality of life for future generations.
- Measure P will extend the current Measure J, with new, important protections for watershed lands and improved affordable housing policies.
- Measure P will protect Napa County’s beautiful valleys, hills, and mountains, as Measure J has done for the past 17 years.
- Measure P will ensure that Napa County continues to guide most growth into existing cities, instead of paving over our valuable agricultural land.
Protect Napa’s legacy. Vote YES on Measure P! Find out more at www.yesmeasurep.com.
What's
at Stake
In the Bay Area, strong development pressure requires that we stay vigilant in protecting our working farms and natural areas. Napa County has protected a huge amount of agricultural land and open space through Measure J.
It is imperative that this protection be extended so these beautiful valleys and mountains remain protected by Measure J provisions.
What You Can Do
Greenbelt Alliance is working with our allies in Napa County to extend Measure J and get Measure P passed. We need volunteers to write letters to local newspapers, reach out to neighbors, or contribute to the campaign. Find out more at www.yesmeasurep.com.
Campaign
Update
June 2008
Greenbelt Alliance has joined the Napa County Farm Bureau and other allies on the “Save Measure J” campaign to renew agricultural protections in Napa County. Measure J, which is set to expire in 2020, requires a vote of the people to change any land that is designated for agriculture or open space to any other land-use designation. Measure P will renew the Measure J language for another 50 years.
