San Anselmo Housing Element Update

Greenbelt Alliance is playing an active role in shaping San Anselmo’s housing element update. We have participated in the housing element subcommittee meetings and joined committee members on a tour of proposed sites. Greenbelt Alliance has partnered with another local group, San Anselmo Vision, to promote the revitalization of the stretch of San Anselmo Avenue that struggles to attract businesses because of a lack of foot traffic. Greenbelt Alliance supports mixed use in that area to create a customer base for new businesses and bring long-time residents to shop in the area.

What's at Stake

San Anselmo is a small town so the opportunity for growth is limited. However, local decision-makers have shown enthusiasm for meeting the city's changing housing needs with a strong housing element. Greenbelt Alliance hopes that our successful efforts to support affordable housing in San Anselmo could become a model for other small jurisdictions in the county.
