Alliance Wins Prestigious American Planning Association Award
The Northern California Section of the American Planning Association has
selected Greenbelt Alliance's report, Smart Infill: Creating More Livable
Communities in the Bay Area, for its 2003 Education Project Award.

Go Greenbelt! 2003 was marked by rain, rain, a little wind, and yet more
rain. Despite the weather, the riders were determined and in good spirits.

Alliance Origins: Growing while Protecting Open Space
2003 marks the forty-fifth anniversary of Greenbelt Alliance's
work to protect open space and promote livable communities. In the 1970s,
our predecessor People for Open Space bolstered its organizational structure
to provide regional focus to greenbelt protection.

Announcing the Photo-of-the-Month Contest
Do you enjoy capturing the beauty of the Bay Area on film? Do you have
a great photo of a vibrant neighborhood, a scenic landscape, or anything
you think illustrates the mission of Greenbelt Alliance? Then enter Greenbelt
Alliance's Photo-of-the-Month Contest! You could have your image published
on Greenbelt Alliance's homepage and receive a copy of 101 Great Hikes
of the Bay Area.

Bay Area Open Space Council Seeks Web
Volunteer
Learn more about Bay Area smart growth organizations while assisting one
of Greenbelt Alliance's open space protection partners. The Bay Area Open
Space Council seeks a research and web-savvy volunteer to help update
the link section of the website, http://www.openspacecouncil.org/. This
opportunity is flexible and the volunteer can work from home. For more
