Press ReleaseMay 7, 2003 Contact: REALIZING VACAVILLES DREAMS FOR DOWNTOWN
A community discussion and walking tour sponsored by Greenbelt Alliance and Solano County Orderly Growth Committee WHAT: Join policy makers and local residents for an easy walk around
Vacavilles blossoming downtown, followed by a group discussion about
how to stimulate more development in downtown. After the walk, we will have a discussion about how to help these projects turn into reality. Are there city policies that impede downtown redevelopment? More importantly, how will the states actions to strip away redevelopment funds affect these projects? How can we help the state understand the importance of redevelopment funding? WHO: Policy makers, activists, community leaders, and Vacaville residents are encouraged to attend; the outing is open to the general public. Mike Shulte from Bay Development will speak about a housing project near downtown that is currently underway. WHEN: Saturday, May 17, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. WHERE: McBride Senior Center at Dobbins and Kendal Streets, downtown Vacaville. For reservations, call Natalie Dumont at Greenbelt Alliance, (707) 427-2308,
Ndumont@greenbelt.org. ### For 50 years, Greenbelt Alliance has been the San Francisco Bay Area's advocate for open spaces and vibrant places, with offices in San Francisco, San Jose, Walnut Creek, Fairfield, and Santa Rosa. www.greenbelt.org
