Press ReleaseSeptember 27, 2005 Contact: Local Environmental Groups Call Press Conference to Kick-Off East County Campaigns to Fight Developer-Sponsored Urban Limit Line Initiatives Urge "NO" Vote on Measures P & K Pittsburg - A coalition of local environmental groups, including Save Mount Diablo, the Greenbelt Alliance and the Sierra Club, are calling a press conference for Wednesday, September 28 at 10:00 a.m. to kick-off their campaign to convince voters that developer-sponsored initiatives - Measure P in Pittsburg, and Measure K in Antioch - if passed, will result in disaster for East County commuters."Busting the Urban Limit Line for pure monetary gain is what these initiatives are really about," said Seth Adams, Director of Land Programs for Save Mount Diablo. "Residents will pay the price in longer commutes." At the press conference, representatives of the environmental community will discuss at length their concerns with the two "urban limit line busting-initiatives" and talk about the campaign they plan to launch. The details are as follows: Date: Wednesday, September 28, 2005 Time: 10:00 a.m. Place: Montecito Staging Area, intersection of Cowell Road & Ygnacio Valley Road, Concord Directions: From Pittsburg-Antioch: take Kirker Pass Road west to Concord, it will become Ygnacio Valley Rd. As you rise past the Hayward State College - Concord campus and Crystyl Ranch Drive, you'll reach the intersection-stop light with Cowell Rd. Turn left and immediately right into the Montecito Staging Area, on the SW corner of Ygnacio and Cowell. If you reach the crest of the hill or descend into Walnut Creek, you've gone too far. From Walnut Creek at Hwy 680 North: take the Ygnacio Valley Rd. exit east 5.4 miles through Walnut Creek You'll rise up and cross Lime Ridge Open Space. Soon after you crest the ridge, you'll reach the Cowell Road stop light. Turn right and immediately right into the Montecito staging area, , on the SW corner of Ygnacio and Cowell.
