Vallejo Open House: Creating Housing Choices

Local residents are invited to find out how to create homes their children, parents, and neighbors can afford

WHAT:
Open house where Vallejo residents can learn how to create more
affordable homes.

WHEN:
11:00 am – 2:00 pm
Saturday, November 18, 2006

WHERE:
336 Georgia St., downtown Vallejo

WHO:
The event is free and open to the public.
Sponsored by Greenbelt Alliance and the Solano Housing Coalition.

WHY:
Development in Vallejo has become much more expensive then what most residents and workers can afford. As result, many people, including young families, elderly people, and local workers, have to move out of the city.

The lack of affordable homes in Vallejo creates development pressure on surrounding farmlands and open space, and requires people to make long commutes on congested freeways.

This open house will be an opportunity for residents, workers, and city officials to learn about Vallejo’s affordable housing crisis and what city officials and residents can do about it.
