Training Leaders to Combat Climate Change

Greenbelt Alliance offers workshop April 16

Reducing driving directly lowers greenhouse gas emissions. How we design our communities directly effects how much people drive. As cities begin to plan for future growth, Greenbelt Alliance is holding a training workshop to help people understand the connection between driving, land use, and climate change.

What: Designing Communities to Prevent Climate Change -- training workshop

Greenbelt Alliance Policy Director Stephanie Reyes and Campaign Organizer Ellie Casson will introduce the latest tools for addressing climate change through land use planning, and will discuss how local residents can help shape city plans in order to reduce greenhouse gases.

When: 10:00am – 2:00pm, Saturday, April 16, 2009

Where: Homeward Bound, Marin Conference Room, 1385 N. Hamilton Parkway, Novato

Why:

Several cities in Marin are updating their General Plans, the blueprints for how a community will grow. Residents and civic leaders who have the latest information and understanding of the issues will make good decisions for the economic and environmental health of their communities.

Who: Greenbelt Alliance with the Nonprofit Housing Association of Northern California

Information: The workshop is $10 and includes lunch.

RSVP to Katherine Bayle at (415) 989-8160 x10. Download the flyer here.
