East Bay Bus Tour: Visualize a More Livable Antioch

Creating local jobs and homes for working families

What: "Visualize a More Livable Antioch," an East Bay Urban Outing

Join Greenbelt Alliance and partners on a bus tour of the fastest growing region in the Bay Area—East Contra Costa County—to explore the opportunities for good development around Antioch’s new eBart station. The tour will visit Dublin and Oakland to look at how good urban planning can create inviting neighborhoods. Lunch will be provided.

When: 9:00am – 3:00pm, Saturday, March 28, 2009

Where: Meet at the Park & Ride Lot at Hillcrest Avenue and Highway 4, Antioch

Why:

BART is extending its service 10 miles east of the existing Pittsburg-Bay Point line to Antioch. This is an opportunity to encourage sustainable growth and reduce traffic on Highway 4 while revitalizing the neighborhood around the station with jobs and homes for working families.

Join us on an East Bay tour to gain new ideas and share your vision of a better Antioch.

Who: Greenbelt Alliance with TransForm, Contra Costa Interfaith Supporting Community Organization (CCISCO), and the Great Communities Collaborative

###

For 50 years, Greenbelt Alliance has been the San Francisco Bay Area's advocate for open spaces and vibrant places, with offices in San Francisco, San Jose, Walnut Creek, San Rafael, and Santa Rosa. www.greenbelt.org

The Great Communities Collaborative is a unique cooperative relationship between Greenbelt Alliance, the Nonprofit Housing Association of Northern California, TransForm (formerly the Transportation and Land Use Coalition), and Urban Habitat, as well as Reconnecting America, the East Bay Community Foundation, and The San Francisco Foundation. The collaborative brings together residents and local organizations to participate in community planning processes across the Bay Area. We want to create a region of vibrant neighborhoods with affordable homes, shops, jobs, and services within convenient walking distance of transit. www.greatcommunities.org
