Meet Ken

As Outings Coordinator, Ken coordinates and leads free outings and adventures for Bay Area residents throughout the year.

Prior to coming to Greenbelt Alliance, Ken worked as a national park ranger in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area and as an instructor for Diablo Nature Adventures, teaching environmental science to school groups in Mount Diablo State Park. He served both as president and longtime board member of the Mount Diablo Interpretive Association (MDIA). He has been featured in several newspaper, radio, and television segments, including MDIA’s “Wild Mount Diablo” videos and the Sierra Club’s “How to Lead a Hike” video.

Originally from Chicago, Ken grew up in Northern Virginia and Southern California. He graduated from UCLA. Ken enjoys exploring unique geological features in California and has climbed Mt. Shasta, Mt Whitney, and White Mountain, all over 14,000 feet!
