What do you look for in a neighborhood?

What do you look for in your ideal neighborhood? What would make your community stronger and more appealing for future generations?

San Jose has embarked on an ambitious and visionary urban village planning process—these are the questions the City wants to answer in a community dialogue. San Jose residents have a unique opportunity to retrofit their city as one that is designed for people.

There are two upcoming opportunities for residents to help shape an urban village in their San Jose neighborhood! Get involved in the urban village planning process at the following public workshops:

What: West San Carlos Workshop #2
When: Monday, September 23; 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.
Where: Sherman Oaks Community Center, 1800 Fruitdale Ave. (map)

What: South Bascom Workshop #2
When: Monday, September 30; 6:30 p.m. – 9 p.m.
Where: Sherman Oaks Community Center, 1800 Fruitdale Ave. (map)

Contact me at mbeasley@greenbelt.org with any questions or to get involved.

If you are unable to attend the upcoming workshops, you can still share your ideas via this online survey created by the City.
With more people in the community weighing in, we can create a city that is walkable, green, and inclusive—one where it’s easy, safe, and convenient to run down to the corner store to grab that onion you need for your stew. Greenbelt Alliance hit the streets of San Jose to ask people what they want to see for their neighborhood in San Jose. Check out the video below to see what they said:
