Briones Park in Winter
Put down your copy of Spores Illustrated and join Greenbelt Alliance for a winter wander in Briones Regional Park.
Mushroom enthusiast Debbie Klein will help us identify the fungi we encounter along the trail. (We’ll just be looking, no collecting allowed in the East Bay Regional Parks.) We’ll also visit at a couple of lagoons (aka “newtist colonies”) and see how the park’s amorous amphibians get a jump on Valentine’s Day.

We’ll assemble at the gate for the Old Briones Road Trail at the end of Old Briones Road. There is a drinking fountain and outhouse at the trailhead.
Bring lunch, liquids, dress in layers, and wear good hiking shoes. Bring hiking poles if you normally use them. Portions of the trail may be quite muddy.
If you have questions about this outing, email Ken Lavin or phone (415) 543-6771 x 321.
