Carquinez Shoreline to Port Costa
Join us on a late summer outing that’s off the beaten path. We’ll hike through beautiful Carquinez Regional Shoreline, then follow a path down to the hidden hamlet of Port Costa.
The quaint Port Costa of today hides a turbulent history—a stop on the transcontinental railroad, a major shipping port, and host to a population of hard drinkers and ladies of dubious virtue. Small wonder a historic marker near the downtown Burlington Hotel (1883) reads Credo Quia Absurdum.

We’ll meet at the parking area for Carquinez Regional Shoreline off Carquinez Scenic Drive. There are restrooms but no drinking water near the trailhead.
Bring water, snack or lunch, dress in layers and wear good hiking shoes. Bring poles if you normally use them. If you have questions about this outing, email Ken Lavin or phone him at 415-543-6771 x321.
