Nature Hike in the East Bay Hills

Sibley Volcanic Regional Preserve
Oakland, Alameda County

A cool summer hike for rock hounds, tree huggers, and everyone in between.

We’ll begin our day walking on the basaltic rock of Sibley Volcanic Regional Preserve, then hike along the Skyline Trail to Huckleberry Botanic Regional Preserve to view some rare native plants that thrive in the park’s unusual soil.

This is a moderate hike of 4 to 5 miles with several hundred feet in elevation change.

Rain cancels.

Where to Meet:

We’ll assemble near the exhibits by the parking lot at the main staging area off Skyline Drive.

There is a water fountain and a restroom near our meeting spot.

Leaders Note:
