South Bay: Roving the Rancho
So close to Silicon Valley and yet so pristine, Rancho Cañada Del Oro is a greenbelt gem. Get to know the “canyon of gold” on this hike along the rolling foothills of the Santa Cruz Mountains.
Along with spectacular views of the Santa Clara Valley and Diablo Range, we’ll enjoy oak woodland, sage-chaparral scrub, and creekside habitats along with outcroppings of California’s state rock, serpentinite.

We’ll meet at the parking area at the preserve entrance. There is also an overflow lot a bit down the road. There are restrooms near our meeting spot.
Bring water, snacks, dress in layers, and wear good hiking shoes. Bring poles if you normally use them. There is one steep section early in the hike, but we will go slow uphill. If you have questions about this outing email Ken Lavin or phone (415) 543-6771 x 321.
