Community Benefits Agreement

« Back to Land-Use Planning Dictionary

A contract between a developer and community organizations, wherein the developer agrees to provide certain benefits as part of a development project, in exchange for the community organizations’ commitment to supporting the project. These benefits may be built into the project itself, such as the provision of park space within a housing development or agreements to employ local labor during construction. The benefits may also be separate, such as a contribution to a public art fund.
