Environmental Justice Element

In 2016, Environmental Justice became a required element that cities and counties with disadvantaged communities must incorporate environmental justice policies into their general plans. These policies must identify objectives and policies that will reduce health risks in disadvantaged communities, which include (among other things):

  • Reducing pollution exposure;
  • Improving air quality;
  • Promoting public facilities, food access, safe and sanitary homes, and physical activity.
