Oakland Shoreline – 2026-2027 Cohort
Oakland shoreline & port-adjacent communities | In partnership with Hood Planning Group & Ninth Root | Funded by Greenbelt Alliance and the Port of Oakland
Our newest cohort focuses on shoreline restoration and climate adaptation along Oakland’s waterfront, working directly with the Port of Oakland’s Waterfront Resilience Planning Project. Using a train-the-trainer model, up to 25 fellows will spend eight months building fluency in sea level rise, flood risk, environmental regulation, and shoreline planning—developing the skills to interpret technical and policy processes and represent their communities’ priorities within them. The program will culminate in a Shoreline Summit in March 2027 where participants will share their projects with the community.
Solano County – Inaugural Cohort, 2024-2025
Suisun City & Fairfield | In partnership with Sustainable Solano | Funded by US EPA
Our inaugural cohort brought together 18 residents of Suisun City and Fairfield—two neighboring cities facing disproportionate impacts from intersecting climate risks including sea level rise, inland flooding, and air pollution. Over 10 months, fellows built climate leadership skills through workshops, field trips, and hands-on capstone projects addressing local resilience priorities, ranging from a native seed library to a shoreline mobile data application to a park revitalization plan. The cohort culminated in a Climate Leaders Summit in June 2025, drawing over 100 community members.
