There were little pockets of green sustainability dotting downtown Walnut Creek Friday.
It was Park(ing) Day sponsored by the Greenbelt Alliance, demonstrating the attractiveness of green space in an urban setting. There were a number of Main Street parking spaces converted into little green mini-parks for the day, including ones sponsored by the Ruth Bancroft Garden and Bike Walnut Creek.
In a parking lot on Mount Diablo Boulevard, there was Sustainability Park with tables for many green organizations, demonstration models of fuel-efficient vehicles and a foursome of women playing mah-jong.
