Yue’s approach to planning has been shaped by her experiences of community organizing and policy research. While organizing alongside residents in Philadelphia Chinatown, she witnessed how planning decisions profoundly affect people’s sense of belonging, cultural identity, and ability to remain in their communities. That experience transformed her understanding of planning—not as a purely technical exercise, but as a process rooted in relationship building and collective imagination. Drawing on that perspective, Yue brings experience in mixed-methods research, policy analysis, community engagement, and visual storytelling to equity-focused work across housing, transportation, education, and climate resilience.
Before joining Greenbelt Alliance, she interned with the City of Palo Alto’s Watershed Protection Department, where she worked on nature-based solutions and sea level rise adaptation through both public engagement and regulatory compliance, bridging technical planning with community outreach. Yue recently graduated with a Master of City Planning from UC Berkeley and holds a B.A. in Sociology & Anthropology and Art History from Swarthmore College. Born and raised in China and having lived in multiple cities across the United States, she brings an international and interdisciplinary perspective to climate adaptation planning and nature-based solutions. Outside of work, she enjoys dancing in nature, painting, and cooking meals with friends.
