Sacred and Ecologically Vital Juristac Is Permanently Protected

The decade-long fight to protect Juristac has finally ended in victory: the Peninsula Open Space Trust announced the acquisition of an additional 2,284 acres of the historic Sargent Ranch property to permanently protect the land—a sacred and ecologically vital site in Santa Clara County—from harmful development threats. This landscape was threatened by an open-pit sand-and-gravel mine proposal that would cause irreparable damage to the sacred and biodiverse landscape.
