Greenbelt Alliance endorses San Mateo development

San Mateo will soon be home to a new Greenbelt Alliance-endorsed transit village.

Developed by the Mid-Peninsula Housing Coalition and Palo Alto Partners, the South Delaware Street project will be a mixed-use transit village on a site currently occupied by a one-story building that was recently vacated by the San Mateo Police Department. South Delaware Street will have 120 mixed-income units, which will exceed the City’s affordable housing requirement by 35%.

The development will be well-served by existing SamTrans bus lines and will include a pedestrian path to the Hayward Park Caltrain Station. In addition, these homes will be close to shops, a grocery store, schools, and job centers.

Greenbelt Alliance endorsed this South Delaware Street for providing affordable housing options and creating a walkable community around the Hayward Park Caltrain Station.
