Savor the Greenbelt 2017 Enjoys Record Support & Memorable Remarks

A record-breaking number of supporters and guests joined us October 3rd to enjoy compelling speakers, a delicious dinner, and a beautiful evening, making Savor the Greenbelt 2017 an unprecedented success!

Nearly 250 guests from around the Bay Area came together to celebrate the work Greenbelt Alliance does to protect the region’s landscapes and promote smart growth within our cities and towns.

The evening included a reception on the Rooftop Garden of Fairmont San Francisco, where guests gathered to savor local wines and hors-d’oeuvres under the light of a full moon, followed by a gourmet dinner prepared by Executive Chef Oscar Gonzalez.

Thanks to a bevy of special guests and hosts, this year’s Savor the Greenbelt was replete with good company. The event was chaired by Craig Hartman, Jan O’Brien, Jeffrey Heller, and Lise Jeantet. In addition, San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo and Lt. Governor Gavin Newsom provided enthusiastic remarks emphasizing the importance of Greenbelt Alliance’s vision and work.

This year also marked the second annual Greenbelt Alliance Champion Awards—honoring the work of prominent individuals who have made a significant contribution to our mission. We proudly presented the award to Megan Medeiros, Executive Director of Committee for Green Foothills, and Linda Jo Fitz, a dedicated environmental leader who has been a steadfast ambassador for Greenbelt Alliance.

Sponsors of Savor the Greenbelt included the Bay Area’s most influential employers, environmental organizations, famous local wineries, and sustainable development champions. Google; Brisbane Baylands; BART; Buena Vista Winery; Carmel Partners; East Bay Regional Park District; Frog Hollow Farm; Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District; and Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP were among many who made this wonderful event possible.
