Overview

Location:Solano County-based, primarily working remotely
Hours: 15-20 hours/week
Compensation: USD $24/hour, eligible for overtime pay
Reports to:Marketing and Communications Manager

About this Opportunity:

Greenbelt Alliance is looking for a Solano Communications Fellow to help tell the story of one of the biggest land-use fights in California right now. Tech billionaires want to build a brand new city in Solano County. The Solano Together coalition, a group of local organizations, residents, and advocates, of which Greenbelt Alliance is a member organization, is pushing back. The Coalition conducts research and shares information about opportunities for political involvement via social media, fact sheets, website updates, and media partnerships.

In this role, you’d be helping bring that story to life online. As part of the Greenbelt Alliance’s Marketing and Communications team, you will support capturing photos and video in the field, producing short-form content, keeping our channels fresh and culturally relevant, staying up-to-date on the California Forever project, and assisting with in-person events as needed.

We are looking for a highly organized and independent candidate who has skills and expertise in graphic design, video/photography, and content creation for social media and understands how to engage an audience on social media. If this sounds like you and you’re passionate about climate justice and equitable urban development, we want to hear from you!

What You’ll Be Working On

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to

  • Collecting and organizing multimedia content in Solano, including photos, videos, testimonials, quotes, maps, etc.
  • Attending events and capturing content to use for social media reels and posts
  • Producing short-form videos and Instagram Reels
  • Support the organization of a social media calendar
  • Staying on top of trends and finding creative ways to apply them to advocacy content
  • Engaging in social listening to track relevant news, discussions, and opportunities related to the Solano Together coalition and California Forever
  • Engaging with relevant accounts, re-sharing content, and participating in conversations when appropriate

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience creating content for social media—personal, professional, or anything in between
  • Strong video skills, including shooting and editing short-form content
  • A natural eye for what’s engaging and culturally relevant online
  • Energy and enthusiasm to engage with community members about campaigns in Solano County
  • Self-motivated team player, able to work collaboratively and independently
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines
  • Interest in advocacy and political campaigns
  • Demonstrated skill with graphic design (Canva, Adobe Suite, or similar)
  • Commitment to advancing justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace and daily work

This fellowship will provide the opportunity to gain knowledge and hands-on experience in the following areas:

  • Understanding of social media for movement building and political advocacy work
  • Community outreach and grassroots coalition communications
  • Social listening and digital media monitoring
  • Experience with content production and graphic design
  • Knowledge of environmental land use planning in Solano County and across the region

Expectations

  • This is a part-time fellowship requiring approximately 15–20 hours per week from June (with the possibility to start as early as April) through September 2026.
  • The Fellow should be able to travel to Solano County for in-person events.
  • A lot of the outreach work will happen on weekends and evenings. Availability for evening and weekend events is required.

Who Should Apply

We encourage applications from:

  • Solano County residents
  • Current undergraduate or graduate students, recent graduates, and early-career professionals
  • People with an eye who enjoy creating multimedia content
  • Individuals who are excited about working directly with communities

How to Apply

Interested candidates should submit the application form with a resume (in PDF) via the form below by March 30, 2026. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
