Sarah Cardona

Meet Sarah

As Deputy Director at Greenbelt Alliance, Sarah oversees the development and implementation of organizational strategies to enable equitable climate resilience across the Bay Area.

Sarah (she/her) enjoys working with partners and supporters to advance climate solutions that improve people’s quality of life, connection to nature, and ecosystem health, with a focus on regional wildfire policy and conservation advocacy.

Sarah brings prior experience planning and implementing climate mitigation and adaptation solutions for the World Bank in Washington, D.C., and a regional nonprofit, Metropolitan Planning Council (MPC). While at MPC, Sarah managed environmental planning efforts in stormwater management and climate resilience including equitable community engagement to inform the Great Rivers Chicago long-range plan for Chicago’s 150 miles of riverfront, and the design of StormStore, an innovative market-based solution to address chronic urban flooding.

Sarah holds a B.A. in Political Science and Spanish from Colgate University and an M.P.P concentrating on environmental policy from The University of Maryland School of Public Policy. A native of Chicago, now calling the Bay Area home, she enjoys hiking (Mori Point is a favorite), experimenting with new vegetarian recipes, and serving on the City of Pacifica Open Space and Parkland Advisory Committee.
