Marin’s King Tide Floods Are a Climate Wake-Up Call
Hundreds of homes and businesses across Marin County experienced historic-level flooding as King Tides combined with heavy rainfall.
Climate Resilient Marin
Connecting the climate solutions, changemakers, and community we need for a healthier, more resilient Marin.
The county has deep expertise, protected open spaces, and neighbors who care. And like every community, Marin is facing the real and growing impacts of climate change—rising seas threatening low-lying neighborhoods like the Canal and Marin City, increasing wildfire risk in our hills and open spaces, and mounting pressure on the ecosystems and biodiversity that make this place worth protecting. These climate impacts exacerbate long-standing issues like housing shortages, affordability challenges, and social inequities.
Greenbelt Alliance is launching the Climate Resilient Marin Initiative to elevate, promote, and connect the local climate solutions and change makers necessary for a healthier climate future.
Many solutions are already here—in our neighborhoods, schools, watersheds, open spaces, businesses, and organizations. However, we need to work faster and better together to keep pace with the rate of local climate impacts.
That requires a stronger connection between people, ideas, and the work already underway to stay ahead of climate change.
The Climate Resilient Marin Initiative connects Marin residents and friends with the resources, organizations, leaders, and solutions needed to ensure a healthier climate future. Through in-person and online gatherings, educational campaigns, and advocacy forums, we weave together the people, knowledge, and creativity that already exist in Marin to meet this moment with everything we’ve got. This is a place to learn about real solutions, discover how your skills and passions fit in, and find a community of people across Marin who are showing up for a better shared future.
This spring, we’re hosting advocacy trainings for educators, healthcare workers, childcare providers, and business owners who want to make their voices heard on one important climate solution–housing.
We also partner with local leaders, including folks from the Marin Climate Justice Collaborative, to collaborate on climate adaptation plans for the City of Marin and unincorporated Marin County, as well as the Canal District in San Rafael.
Sign up for our mailing list to stay connected — we’ll share updates, upcoming events, and ways to plug in as the work grows.
