Job Title: People Operations Manager
Job Location: Hybrid-based in Oakland, California: 2 days in office required.

Job Classification: Full-Time Employee, Exempt, 37.5 hours per week
Salary Range: USD $80,000-85,000 per year
Reporting To: Sarah Cardona, Deputy Director

This role is focused on maintaining our positive organizational culture, managing human resources, and overseeing day-to-day operations to support the organization.
We are looking for someone who is eager to support the full employee lifecycle, including hiring, onboarding/offboarding, and professional development, as well as office management, administration, and organization-wide communications.

Key Activities Will Include:
- Oversee full employee lifecycle, including hiring, onboarding, retention, development, and offboarding processes, working closely with the Deputy Director and a third-party human resources Professional Employer Organization.
- Serve as key point person for employee relations, including organization-wide announcements, staff engagement, interpersonal dynamics, guidance, and compliance with employment law, regulations, and processes, ensuring that we have an equitable and inclusive office environment.
- Coordinate staff professional development opportunities, including all-staff trainings that strengthen our organizational success and adhere to our organizational values.
- Manage office environment, maintaining office and technology/equipment inventory, license renewals, as well as virtual office platforms, subscriptions, and protocols for team effectiveness (i.e., Zoom, Asana, Slack, Drive, CODA, etc.).
- Lead preparation of bi-weekly payroll, ensuring compliance with timesheets; reviewing monthly staff expenses and reimbursements, working closely with the Sr. Finance & Grants Manager.
Desired Qualifications:
NOTE: We do not expect any single candidate to have extensive expertise/experience in all of these areas, but will prioritize candidates with demonstrated success as a critical-thinker and quick-learner.
- Experience in human resources, office management, operations, administration, team-building, and staff engagement.
- Experience promoting positive staff relations and organizational culture.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail, focusing on efficiency and effectiveness.
- Willingness to continually improve processes and systems, and be a team player.
- Exceptional communications skills and emotional intelligence, with self-awareness and acute preceptiveness.
- Ability to strategize creatively and think critically, overcoming obstacles and offering sustainable solutions.
- Self-starting work ethic, comfortable working both collaboratively and independently.
- Familiarity and experience using any of the following software is a plus: Google Suite, Asana, Coda, Slack, Salesforce, Zoom, QuickBooks, BILL, Divvy, Classy, Insperity, Workable, TimeCamp.
