2025 East Bay Happy Hour: Partnering for a Stronger Shoreline

On a sunny Thursday evening in June, fifty of our supporters, community partners, and friends came together to celebrate climate resilience at the REAP Climate Center for our annual East Bay Happy Hour. We conversed while enjoying egg rolls, local wine, and the ambiance from the sheep and chickens that we met on our farm tour.

It was so special to be able to host the event at REAP this year. We have gotten to know firsthand the impact of their work through our partnership to mitigate flood risk and support adaptation projects along the San Leandro Bay/Oakland-Alameda Estuary. This collaboration is crucial, as rising sea levels in this area will lead to property loss, flood damage, and displacement, especially for low-income residents. Utilizing nature-based solutions is the answer, as they not only reduce the impacts of flooding but also preserve and revitalize the water, natural habitats, and local communities.

No one can tackle the climate crisis alone, and we are so grateful to our partners like REAP who are in it with us.

Thank you to everyone who came out to support our work at the East Bay Happy Hour! We are endlessly appreciative of our supporters and wouldn’t be able to do our work without you.

We hope to see you at our next event: Hidden Heroes of the Greenbelt on Thursday, August 14th at Preservation Park in Oakland. Tickets will be launched soon, but in the meantime, if you know a company that would like to sponsor the event, click here for more info.

If you have any questions about our work in the East Bay, you can contact our East Bay Resilience Manager Victor Flores at vflores@greenbelt.org
